New queens from Mikes bees and honey
« on: August 23, 2014, 09:04:54 pm »
I received my two carni queens from Mike a few days ago. Installed them into ten frame deeps with four frames of mixed brood.
After having such poor luck with bought queens I hung these candy side up between two frames and didn't poke any holes thru the candy.

I stayed out for a few days and when I looked both queens had been released. I didn't go in at this time but I did put two quarts of thin syrup on top.

I couldent take it any longer so today I went thru them. Ones a beauty, laying up a storm. The other has went to the big clover patch in the sky and I have seven capped queen cells to contend with.

I don't need them at the current time but since their on two frames I rekin I'll put them in mating nucs tomorrow. One never knows.

Sorry you are having such poor luck with these queens Woody.

I thought most of the Russian had been bred out of my bees but maybe not. They don't seem to want any queen they didn't raise.
