Hmmm
« on: September 02, 2014, 06:43:14 pm »
The bees are acting very busy, but not drawing out the frames like I had hoped. Going quite slow. Filling up whats drawn is better than 3/4 done.  Cycles of brood still  large, maybe consuming some stores faster than the need to build storage. Population robust, don't Russian bees start cutting back on the brood rearing in early fall?

barry, frame drawing, well up here, it's just not gonna happen for me.  the russian queens will cut back earlier, but temps are still warm.  if they are going through stores, my guess is, the queen ramped up brood rearing for your winter?  kind of a last hurrah?  not sure barry, just my thoughts.  when does your fall begin?

Theoretically we are in fall right now at least that's what the calendar says temperatures have been in the mid to upper 90 s though and the bees are working something somewhat. It won't actually start getting cool in a more serious way until sometime around mid to late October that's when nighttime temperatures will be dropping through the sixties.
