Just how close do they get?

Looks like these are the deer he calls 'friends', like they're in his yard..

Yup they are friends so get so close if they make it thru the hunting season next year they may be eating out of my hand. I make every effort to not spook the girls off my property.
I have one that was a 2013 fawn that started in April following me and the dog around on our twice daily walks. Disappeared for a bit at the end of May but returned in late June but usually will find a place along our path to wait for us to show up and not follow us all the time.
We now have a late set of triplets about a month and a half old.

ahhh, brave man..    They are like rats here, SO MANY of them that the ones with spots are considered delicious.
My wife likes to watch them, and often convinces me NOT to shoot... just this once....   And so, we have three young apple trees left of a dozen planted. NO peach trees, no pear trees and no plum trees etc, etc...  I am getting soft in my old age....

A few years ago my brother was bow hunting in the river bottom, he said he was creeping along a path through the Johnson grass and kept hearing something following him. He came to a clearing and waited to see if it would come out (he said he felt a little spooky), it did and it was a fawn and it stood and looked at him. :o He said he slowly started walking toward it and almost got close enough to pet it , but it took off, said he didn't have the heart to kill it. :D. He was called the big white hunter for along time afterwords  Jack

They really are beautiful---but be on the allert for the ticks they may be spreading---the ones that cause lyme disease.  You don't want them around.
