Garth Brooks Gifts His Guitar~Mpls
« on: November 09, 2014, 12:56:41 pm »
this concert was last evening, target center, minneapolis, minnesota. during the song 'the dance' a lady in the front row held up a sign that said,
"CHEMO THIS MORNING, GARTH TONIGHT, ENJOYING THE DANCE".

the woman, from the remarks is fighting breast cancer, has 3 chemo treatments left, then a double mastectomy, and then 6 weeks of radiation to undergo.

brooks sat down in front of her, took her sign, sang to her and handed her his guitar.........pretty cool!

"Well that brings tears to my eyes."

me too bakers (and jen). and perry, always thought the same too. 'class act'.  what a gift!
amazing someone caught this on whatever gadget and uploaded it, that was cool to do.

the song 'the dance', has significance for us, as i am guessing, it does for many others. just songs one identifies with, a time or something in their lives.

we considered getting tickets, i think we can still get them, he's in minneapolis until november 15th.  sure would have loved to have seen this one.

I am going to make a point to see him when he comes around this time.  Before he made it big he played often at  the " rockin donkey" as we called it a small club about 35 miles south of me.  They say he is a pretty down to earth guy.  And Things like this prove he hasn't lost sight of the people his fans truly are.

I'm no kin to him that i know of, but would be proud if i was :occasion14:.He made a sick ladies day, something she will remember the rest of her life. Also if it came to that she could probably sell that guitar for enough to pay all her med. bills. (he probably knew that) I hope she doesn't have to. Jack

He is a class act.

I had the chance a few years ago to do some work on his place here in Oklahoma. He built his kids their own gym & that's what I was working on. Then we did a house on his place for someone else. The company I was working for ended up building Garth's house, but I had quit & started my own company when that happened, so I didn't get to work on his house.

He is very kind, very generous, & a lot of fun to be around. He never talks, or looks down on anyone, & treats everybody the same. It was neat because in the morning when I would drive to work the radio would say that Garth is in California today reading books to kids, & when I pulled in the gate, there he was pulling out, taking his kids to school. I got a chuckle out of that. Some of the other guys spent more time on his place than I did & got to know him good enough to get to fish on his place, (a little over 2,000 acres) I never got to that point, but it was still fun. We got to see his ex wife Sandy a few times, but she avoided meeting people. Trish was around a little but I didn't see her much. Some the other guys did, but I didn't. He has some odd quirks about him that I never understood, but he is a good guy.

I do a lot of things, but I was doing the metal stud framing, & drywall, & grid ceilings at his place. That is the main thing that I do.

Nice story Bee, I am usually intrigued by the quirks people have. It's what makes us different from each other. But I don't have any quirks.. Nope Not Me!  :D
