Merry christmas and the meaning to Riverrat

As we arise to find a tree loaded with treasures. Let each and every one of us be reminded the greatest gift given to us all was not wrapped and placed under the tree. It was given to us by the military service members who are away from there families protecting our freedoms so we can freely celebrate the holidays. Its a gift given to us by firefighters and police officers who work to keep us safe while we celebrate a holiday that was started as a celebration of the birth of Jesus but has now been turned into a commercial holiday rivaled by none. So has you open the treasures under the tree please stop and take a minute to honor those that put their life on the line each and everyday 24-7 for us to be safe and build memories that will last a lifetime. Merry Christmas and Happy new year from Riverrat and his family. And Thank you to those who gave up their holiday tradition so we could enjoy ours.

Yes indeed, one only needs to see how our " enemies " handle those who believe in Christmas. To those of us fortunate enough to have secured our freedoms with the sweat, blood and diligence of our armed forces and police officers. To them all we owe a debt of gratitude we will be hard pressed to repay.

Well said RiverRat!  Being a Christian, Christmas is the birthday of my Savior.  Therefore, the things most important to my well being are God, family and our military, and maybe they are so related that they are one.  But to put the philosophy aside, I am, and always have been, proud and grateful to our military personnel.  Those folks that are standing guard 24-7 so that the rest of us can live FREE. 

I pray that God will Bless our military personnel and bring them home whole.

    Family, thru all the good and questionable events, the journey of family life is ever changing and has taught me great patience and that even the most unliked family member can surprise you if you give them plenty of time and respect. We are all loved by God.

    As for the military, my bro died of ALS 3 years ago, a military related fatal illness, from when he served in Vietnam. The veterans administration took very good care of him during his diagnosis and decline. I will forever be grateful to the military ~
