Identifying Cabin fever, and AINS !
« on: January 14, 2015, 10:20:00 pm »

   The problem condition;
Cabin fever..   It often styarts simply, and seemingly innocently..  A little pacing back and forth aimlessly..   This will then become full wandering. Often, from window to window. Many who have progressed to wandering carry binoculars, even though they know its so cold out that there is nothing to see.
Please dont take this lightly, becaused the next step leads dirrectly to AINS, or Acute Involuntary niceness syndrome..  THis could potentially lead to DEATH..
You will KNOW you are contracting AINS when you suddenly have the desire to do dishes, sweep, do laundry, shovel the walkway, the driveway, Clean the cat litter box, or perform ANY duty that your WIFE is currently doing after she works 12 hours each day..  The risk, is that once you begin to perform these duties in her place, she will without doubt then BELIEVE in her heart, that you should perform them every day. All of them!!  If you fail to do so, she also believes it is within her right to physically harm you, and yes, this includes the use of a wooden spoon, the vacuum cleaner wand, Car keys used as brass knuckles, and, as stated, in some rare cases has led to death when the male attempted to "right" the wrongs he started while under the influence of AINS..
   The Solution!!
Yes, there is a solution, and an immediate fix to the problem. Get in your truck, and LEAVE, the very moment you start to fold that laundry, or clean the oven? Walk out to the truck, start it, and drive away. DO NOT go back into the house while the truck warms up.. the COLD may help return some common sense to your muddled brain..   Drive somewhere, go to a friends house, and help HIM, because HE, will NOT expect you to perform that duty EVER again, whatever it may be...  Lets say, assembling frames!!
For those of you still a little confused, let me offer this picture as proof that cabin fever, and AINS exists, and that some men will drive an hour from home to avoid its effects!   Ladies and gentlemen, for your viewing pleasure, I present to you, the FACE of AINS!

heheh, we got quite a bit done today, AND avoided Cabin Fever!!

Oh my!  I think I may have it!

I told Scott yesterday that I'd be busy today and unable to come up.  What I didn't tell him was the reason.  Thursdays are our day to clean the house.  Working together it typically takes my wife and I about 3 hours.  A couple of days ago wife told me she had a hair appointment on Thursday followed by some work with horses.  Something about horses needing shots and at least one needing to have it's teeth "floated".   I think she just made that up, but, whatever.  Of course that means she wouldn't be able to help with the housework.  She suggested the cleaning could wait till Friday (when I'm going to be busy) and she'd do it herself.  No no no said I.  I'll clean the house Thursday and you can do...whatever.

On a side note, have you ever wondered why it takes YOU 30 minutes to have your hair done and 4 hours to have her hair done?

I'd like to add to this little epistle but I really need to get back to mopping, vacuuming, laundry, bathrooms, etc.  I'm afraid I've got it REALLY bad!  Quick, Dr. Scott, is there a vitamin or something I can take?   Ted

well, I suppose thats better than it falling out of other places??   :o

Sorry buddy.. No pills to take. The only recourse you have once its started, is to file for divorce.. find a younger model that is trainable and start ALL over again.  ONCE they get it into their minds that YOU will do any of the aforementioned things, it never goes away. Hypnotism, and even Frontal Lobe lobotomy has proven completely ineffective.  My grandfather used to swear that he could hear Grandma whispering from beyond the grave..........

Scott- "The only recourse you have once its started, is to file for divorce..

:D  But remember Ted, many of those younger models have ex-boyfriends and kids tagging along. If it were me, I would rather clean house and visit Scott and stay busy with bee stuff... than to raise some models snotty kids. Sure takes the romance out of things  ;) ;D

I've always said once is enough. If I ever get out of this one, there won't be another.

Of course, after 47 years, getting out of this one seems doubtful.

Scott, you are totally incorrect. A very simple cure is doing it WRONG.

I can attest that Scott's advice is good. That method has always worked for me. Luckily for me I'm an avid coyote hunter so I always have something to go do. If the weather is really nasty I may spend a good deal of time in the truck.

This particular advice of Iddees has worked well for me in other situations though.
