Ozzy's gone to heaven
« on: January 05, 2015, 07:04:16 am »
Had him since he was 5 weeks old, flat coated retriever mix, adopted from dog shelter.
Had to put him asleep yesterday morning, our son came with Ana and I, wanted him to see the same faces he saw on the day of his adoption.
Cancer was eating him up, drugs his vet prescribed didn't work anymore. He lived 2 years longer then his breed average.
It's always hard loosing a friend. My heart is broken. Ozzy was one of the kind. 12.5 years of unconditional love. Thank you buddy

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. We have had to say goodbye to two good friends this past year as well, so I can completely empathize with you.
While difficult, you did the best thing by accompanying him at the end, we do as well. They know when you are there they will be alright.
My thoughts are with you at this time.

I'm sorry for your loss.  I've lost one in an accident 9 years ago, but I had to make the decision to put one to sleep 4 years ago because of his failing heart.  One of the toughest decisions I ever had to make.  They truly are part of the family.

It is sad to lose a loved one, but we all have a season.  I've ended the lives of a few pets that were more miserable living than death.  Death isn't the worst scenario.  You did the right thing.  Sorry for your loss.

My sympathies.  I'm still getting over the one I had put down due to tumors and diabetes insipidus 2years ago.  Making room for shelter dogs helped, but there will never be another Spike.

It's such a hard day when we help our pets go to heaven. A few years ago the day came with me when I choose to take our dog, Butch, to the vet for his final rest, I stayed with him until he was asleep. I set the day up so that I could get the deed done, and then go grocery shoping for a while, thinking that I would be detered from my crying. Well, it didn't work  I just kept reading my shopping list gathering my goods.. and crying.

Blessings to all of you ~

Thank you for your support and kind words. It helped.
As ls said we all have a season, and that is the fact.
Got to be thankful for all those years of love and friendship.

It is always hard to lose a friend. As many 4 legged friends as I have had in my lifetime, I always wonder WHY I do it to myself, and I think the answer is simple.. the joy, and love given while they are here transcend the hurt when they go.  So there are MANY years of joy, a couple years of hurt, and then many more years of memories that make you smile.
