Great pictures of history in the Dakotas, life didn't look to easy there.

Nice photos, I love old western history like this. I love reading about the French Indian War too.

Those are some great pictures.  Times sure have changed!

Here's my contribution:

That's my great-grandfather and -grandmother and their kids.  My grandfather (my dad's dad) is standing on the right.  The picture was taken around 1910.  They lived in Cades Cove before they made the Smoky Mt. National Park there and made everybody move.

When things aren't going great, or I get down, I think about that picture and realize how much easier life is now than it was then.  I remember my grandfather telling me stories of growing up and living back then.  We've really got it made now (for the most part).

I had to scoot and shimmy on my belly under an old oak staircase to add a 3 way light switch going to the 2nd story.  Amongst all the coal dust I found a page from an old newspaper under the bottom landing pad.  The Detroit News, dated 1923!  It didn't look too bad for being 92 years old.  Dresses for $13 back then.  I wondered how old that oak staircase was; now I know it must be at least 92 years old.
