Whoever invented that is probably sitting on a beach somewhere nice and warm now!
Neat idea!

Didn't invent it and don't live on the beach. But it has been in the 70's here all week except for the cold front today its a balmy 41 degrees.  I have to say we have never got enough snow to have to remove it from the roof tops.  But if its any consolation prize I did see a sonic awning collapse a few years ago from the weight of snow and ice. but more ice than snow.

we have a couple regular snow rakes for the roof, it's standard snow removal equipment for anyone who lives in snow country. i sometimes have to use the roof rake with a homemade gadget on the end of it to clear the snow off the sat dish, and of course the sat dish is on the highest point of the roof....... :D

Watching that video reminded me of a time when I first started driving gravel truck. We were hauling snow and when I went to dump a big load it gut hung up (frozen to the bed of the box). I left the box up in the air and crawled between the tailgate to give the bed of the box a few smacks with my maul to get it to break loose.
Anyone see where this went?

Never seen a snow rake.  Cant say that I know where the snow shovel is haven't seen it in 2 years.  Im guessing its where ever the wifey left it when she used it last.  Riverbee shoot me now I cant help myself.  Do you know how you turn a dishwasher into a snow thrower?

You buy her a shovel :o

.............. :D :D :D

i wish my dishwasher could throw snow........... :D

a roof rake looks similar to the thing-a-ma-jig jen posted the video on, only it has a big fat solid blade on the end of it. you set it up on top and whack through the snow and pull the snow down.  as a senior i get my upper body exercise using this thing in the winter.  i also used to get my exercise when i used to get a ramp going up the deck to haul the snow blower up it until i sorta made some dings in the decking.  with a new deck on, the snowblower is now prohibited......... :D

heheh..  that just got me into a lot of trouble...
I put metal on our roof..     I believe its 6/12 and the problem with it, is that it PILES all the snow in front of the door and garage door..   wake you up in the middle of the night when all that snow slides off...   WAY better than trying to shovel it off!

I have two snow rakes. They get plenty of use around my house. This year I have used it about 8 times.  The back end of house gets the snow load. That where the snow builds up the most. Every time I get 6 inches or more the rake comes out. If I don’t rake the snow off the roof. It builds up with ice around the gutters. It forms an ice dam.

The pitch on my roof is steep enough that with steel roofing the snow comes off on its own.  Just don't stand near the side of the house.  LOL
