A friend of mine called a while ago and was telling me about some folks down the road that had some bee stuff they were looking to sell. The old fellow had passed on 10 years ago. All the extracting stuff was galvanized and of no interest to either of us, but there was frame parts, never put together. Kevin uses all plastic frames so he passed.
It was hard to figure out but I picked it up fro $255.
I got it all home and counted it out:
960 top bars. (they are the wedge type and I normally use grooved top bars, but I can easily make them work)
1860 end bars.
360 bottom bars. (sadly I ended up short on these, and they are the split bottoms, but again I can make them work).
So, I guess I'll have to crank out a bunch of bottom bars (I won't bother with the splits, I'll make single ones).
Good deal or so-so, or did I make a mistake? (New frames up here are $1 each if bought by the thousand, plus taxes (15%) and shipping).
I also managed to snag a funky old bee supply box, wooden no less, and also found some really old advertisements, one of which is for a Kelly Vibrating Jiggle Knife (steam). These jiggle knives
now sell for $628 I think.
