Ornamental Cherries can be great tree's, and they don't get too tall, either, which has advantages around the home sometimes? They look nice when not in bloom, too, as the color and foliage is a bit different.
They do better w/ some inoculant in the soil. Apparently there's some microbes or bacteria, or some little thing that escapes me at the moment, we had to add to the topsoil when we added a Cherry Tree in honor of my daughter to our old home. Was some powdered stuff from the garden center. Worked great, the sucker took off and never looked back. Wasn't too messy of a tree, either (sometimes fruit-tree's can be a problem in your yard).
