Mother's Day ideas
« on: May 03, 2015, 12:59:55 pm »
Any thoughts on Mother's Day gifts?  I realize each circumstance is different.  Will you be expressing your gratitude to your mother or your wife? or both?  Is a card enough?
The last gift I gave my mother for a special occasion, she gave back to me.  So, I think for Mother's Day, my 80+ mother is going to get bird seed and bird suet cakes.  We reach a point where  our mothers have everything they need and that is a blessing for sure.

That's interesting Baker! the only think I ask for... if they must buy me something... is black oil sunflower seeds to feed my birds. It's something that I enjoy every single day. Also, I'm working on a pollinator garden in my yard, can't dig in our dirt/shale, so each mom's day I have the fam go in on another wine/whiskey barrel.

Personally, I agree with the no gift thing. My parents and I got to the point where we really just wanted to have a nice meal together and maybe a stroll thru the garden or park.

Fishing and a picnic, how can it get better than that tbone  :eusa_clap:

I don't have a wife (lol) so I'll just be getting my mom something.  Already did, in fact.  Got her a small colorful owl suncatcher. :)  Wanted to give it to her on Mother's Day but made the mistake of mentioning I'd gotten her something so she teased it out of me.  lol  She loved it.  So I'll get her a card but not tell her until the day!  :D

my mom is 80.
although the distance is great between us, i appreciate her, and am grateful to have her in my life.  i 'phone home' to talk with her almost every couple of days.

for mothers day, i always send a card, (not enough), so she gets a big spray of flowers delivered, (loves flowers) a gift card/and or something she wants/needs but won't buy for herself, and frequently says "i don't want or need anything".  i have sent two of my brothers on long distance missions to deliver something personally to her, all sorts of things, you name it, there isn't anything i wouldn't do for her to say thank you mom!
wish i could be there on mothers day, i can't, but just saying how much i appreciate her means a great deal, not just to her, but to me as well.
