Proud of my girls
« on: May 29, 2016, 08:37:06 pm »
I had some tree limbs to get rid of, so I cranked up my chipper today.

I was on the far side of the yard, but it is still a noisy machine with lots of vibration.

None of the bees bothered me. No one even dropped by to say "hi" or "shut that d__n thing off!"

Nice mellow bees. The best kind.
I built a fence around mine driving t-posts in the ground and they weren't even interested. Think I was more nervous than they were. :)

I used the weed eater around mine today.  They were oblivious to me.  I am sure the time of year plays a big part.  Don't try these things during a dearth or right after you have pulled honey supers.  :D

This has been my experience also. Anymore I just go ahead and put the jacket on if I'm weed eating. I might make it past 6 or 7 but eventually I'll get hit.

There's a pretty good flow on here right now. I pulled 3 supers today and after extracting I set everthing on the deck to let the girls clean it up. Normally they would be there in the thousands. The most I saw at one time today was seven.

When nectar is plentiful honey takes a back seat!
