Covering for tanks?
« on: June 10, 2016, 08:31:31 pm »
What is the covering that is on the tanks behind the new S/S tank in this picture?
It looks like some kind or wrap, or is that pattern right into the stainless tank itself? It seems to me it would be a good way to make an old marked up tank look new. :)

It is a method of adding rigidity to a tank made out of thin metals. It also id used where because of temperature changes it allows for different expansion rates depending on the level of fill an the inside of the tank of hotter or cooler.

That's a dimpled cover. It's used to circulate chilled or heated water around the tank to regulate the temperature.

Is it something you can buy and wrap around a tank, or is it part of the tank?

They are normally welded to the tank during fabrication.

If it is the look you are after and and to make a scratched up tank look new you could wrap the tank in vinyl
