I've never had a robbing instance from community feeding when 100 feet or farther from the hives. Take that with a grain of salt. It's just one case. Others mileage may vary.

I put mine out by my house. My hives are about a acre away and I have never had a problem with robbing.  I have a friend that set her feeder out pretty close and had robbing bad. Think she said it was around 50ft from her hives.

I've read somewhere that some towns/states ban open feeding.  Although I will continue to feed individually (because of one issue that I did cause), I would like to make sure folks are aware that there may be restrictions in their area.

Yankee, how many hives do you think we're going to your bucket feeder?  Did you see any balling or fighting?
