bee suit repairs

another carpenter on a job turned me on to this. tear mender is a latex based glue for patching tarps. we used it to patch our work pants. it's not pretty but it does work. I cut a patch & lay it over the hole & draw around it in pencil so I no where the glue is going. glue on the patch & the pencil washes off ( if you care ). it's water soluble until it sets up. if you glue a sleeve or pants leg make sure the glued area is not touching the backside as you will never get it apart. I had a pair of pants I had to convert to shorts cuz' I glued the leg shut!! it's called tear mender & farm supplies & some hdwe stores sell it.

Slick. Now I wonder how that would work on my ventilated suits? I already have a couple of holes in my full suit.

as long as you had good glue contact it would work but you would loose the ventilation in the patched area. so long as the patches were small that would not bee an issue.

Thanks for sharing, rober. What did you use for the actual patch? It looks like the same fabric as the suit.

For actual holes "Goop" also works very well, we used to carry the canvas seam glue for clothing repairs and as Rober says, "good stuff"

I use pieces from my retired ( as in too raggety to wear )work pants. the st louis area carpenters union has a white pants dress code. I always wore the double kneed white carpenters pants. when I was a cub we had to wear white bibs w/attached nail apron & had to change out of them before we left the job. white pants were allowed in the mid 70's. I think we are the only district council in no. America with this dress code. the bee suit in the photo is ancient. it is what I wear when doing nasty cut-outs or when chain sawing open a fallen tree. I might get another year or two out of it.
