9 frame honey super on 10 frame deep super

I was wondering if there would be an issue with putting a 9 frame honey super on tip of 10 frame deep supers.  Since things won't line up perfectly, I was curious to know if it will cause problems.  If so, can I switch my deep supers from 10 frame to 9 without it affecting the bees to much?

Many people space their frames out in a ten frame box and only put nine frames in it, and there are some that like to run 11 frame brood boxes.  The only issue would be with the gap on the side if there is one. The offset may allow water/rain to leak into the hive more than normal.

Hey Joey. Not a problem, I switched all my honey supers to 9 frame last year. Use 10 if you are using undrawn frames though.

no issue. i run 9 frame deep brood boxes and 8 frame honey supers. like perry said if you are starting with foundation, use 10 frames, and as soon as they are drawn, pull one out.  also, just make sure to evenly space the 9 frames.

What is the reason to have nine frames as opposed to 10

vv, 9 frame honey supers are easier to uncap. also easier to remove from the box.  9 frames vs 10 frames, the bees will draw out the foundation and fill/cap a little more to compensate for the extra space yet sticking to 'bee space'.  9 frames will be a little thicker in depth/width when uncapping than 10 frames.  hope this makes sense?

I use 9 frame spacers in all of my boxes. as riverbee said the bees with the comb out past the frame it's a whole lot easier to uncap.
I actually think I get as much & possibly even more honey than I would running 10 frames. also with the metal spacers the frames are always equally spaced.
