What kind of hive is this?

This guy is a commercial beekeeper near me and he has some unusual and interesting YouTube videos. There is a stack of hives behind him in this video that I've never seen before. Is this standard for commercial bee yards or his own thing?

from his comment on the you tube video and his website, he is using standard langstroth deeps 10 frames.

standard for commercial keeps? no....i know of one commercial keep in montana that brings all his hives in for the winter in a very large climate controlled building, and stacks, but not like what this keep is doing. standard for commercial bee yards? also no.

The hives directly behind him look like long langstroth hives, the hives to his left and down low look like they could be standard langstroth hives.  You can read about long langs at horizontalhive.com.  'Commercial' beekeeping may vary from place to place...Those hives stacked in the video are not what you would expect to see in a Commercial operation in the USA.

Tanzanian top bar hive.  Basically straight sides versus the Kenyan with the angled sides.

Always something new to learn. His looks like they have 50 frames in them (the colored ones behind him). He has other videos where he's working on standard Lang hives. I've never met him but his accent sounds Eastern European to me.

it is a good video, and he breaks it down and also talks about expenses.

it is possible to make some dollars. last season my bees produced about 750 lbs of honey (4 hives). so approximately 187.5 pounds per hive. i sell my honey at $10.00 a pound. the math = $1875 per hive.  in reality, it was a good year, my hives were very strong except for the 5th one. (queen issues).
some hives had more supers on than others, but i just averaged the numbers out for you per hive.  we all have expenses to pay for the bees, the queens, all of the equipment and extracting and bottling equipment/supplies. labels, etc.....

also there will be years that this does not happen and it's possible not to harvest any honey or a very small amount.
