Saw this story on JP's fb page. It would drive me nuts to have several of my hives hundreds of miles away where I could not check on them.

Sadly Justice these days is rarely served to the common man and the thief can often appear to have more rights  >:( The recent bust of some hive thieves and their 10,000 bail for over 1,000,000.00 in bee hives shows this. Sigh..... :-X

$10,000 bail is a disgrace!
It reminds me of some of the logging "contractors" up here when they log land. Sometimes they accidentally stray over property lines and harvest thousands of dollars worth of lumber off some unsuspecting land owner and the value of the fine is what the stumpage rate of the trees is worth. Where is the disincentive to obey the law?

Bail is just what it costs to stay out of jail until the trial. The question is what will be the punishment if he's found guilty.

KGB???   :P

Lloyd Cunniff also says that interbreeding can lead to aggressiveness and poor bee health.  I didn't know this.  Anyone have any  knowledge about this?

Could it be that he was talking about the interbreeding of hive thieves?  I could see where that might lead to aggressiveness and certainly to poor bee health.  :D :laugh:

Okay---so it's not so funny.  I just couldn't help myself from commenting.  Chalk it up to my poor sense of humor.
