First successful split

May 24 I removed 5 frames from an active hive I thought might swarm and put them in a nuc box. There were two unhatched supercedure cells on one frame. I had to order more hive parts and paint them so about a week later I moved the 5 frames into a hive and noticed that those queen cells had hatched. I have been searching for evidence of a queen in there and today, yes, capped and uncapped brood. They have a queen. I am feeding them 1:1 because they are actively waxing out the new foundation in a second deep. Feeling proud  :)

Marion,  that's great, I love that feeling.  That's my favorite part about keeping bees.  Bee careful though, its highly addictive and I've found no cure :laugh:
