Drone Boards [Drone Frames]

I plan on using drone boards as one of my IPM steps. My boxes will be 10 frame mediums with new packages installed this spring. Is it recommended to install now or wait until the first over wintering?

Drone frames. Looking to see if if it is recommended on new hive without frames drawn out or wait until 2nd year.

All colonies want drones, just make sure you put it towards the outside of the box.

You can put a shallow frame of standard foundation in the hive. The bees will tend to build drone comb hanging from the bottom bar. When the drone cells are sealed they are cut off the bar. Freezing the strip of drone cells will kill any varroa. You can uncap the cells to check for varroa. The uncapped cells can be fed to the birds.
