"Richard Coy inspects one of his hives near Burdette, Ark. Honey production at this location fell by almost half this year — which he attributes to the drifting of weedkiller dicamba to nearby flowering plants.

Riverbee,
1 1/2 -2 yrs. ago when working in Charleston s.c. near the Angel Oak tree. (commercial for insurance company)
Clemson University has a bioengeneering
school where they grow different crops, well they had a community type garden (vegetable and flower garden)  they had a community apiary with 15-20 hives i posted pics. Can't now lost pics. But me and boss (beek) stopped and walked out to hives two people came out to talk one was a bioengeneer . we talked a little while. When i asked her about the soybeans and corn being killed by drift of dicamba spray. She said that she was not aware of that. I told her to goolge what i read .

thanks mikey and sorry about the loss of your pix. i did find your old thread on this but the pix are gone. if you have them saved on your device, i can upload them for you.

the dicamba is also killing roadside, ditch plants.

i have one farmer that leases from us, he typically grows corn, although has grown soybeans on occasion.

Some of the best nectar sources are growing in the roadside ditches.

yes, very true bakers.

we haven't been affected by dicamba just yet (to my knowledge, already asking), BUT, we have been affected by an overzealous town patrolman who likes to cut down trees and vegetation inside/outside the right away and shears off the roadside ditches to the dirt, including part of our lawn...........have had talks with him, and then the town chair. when you send your township a bill for whacking mature trees and vegetation outside the right away.....sort of gets some attention. also, trying to educate these guys on why this vegetation is good.........

we will just keep planting wild seeds/seed bombs in the ditches to keep the overzealous town patrolman busy........ :D
