I found this recipe on a website. My dog does like them and when he isn't thrilled about a dog treat, he will turn up his nose and walk away. Spoiled dog!
I like this because you don't really need a mixer or a rolling pin. It's up to you. Your dog isn't going to care what the finished product looks like.
Dog Biscuits with Honey
3/4 cup hot water
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup powdered milk
1 tsp salt
1 egg
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon honey
Pour the hot water over the margarine to melt it. Stir in the salt, powdered milk, honey and egg. Add the flour 1/2 cup at a time. Knead to a stiff dough and roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Using a cookie cutter, cut out biscuits and place on a cookie sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
Bake 50 minutes and 325 degrees.
Disclaimer: I did roll out the dough but used a knife to cut treats into treat size pieces. If I were to give these away as a gift, I would probably care more about the appearance.
I also used some whole wheat flour that was a little old and on the verge of going rancid.
