I was fortunate enough to help over 40 new beekeepers learn the basics of beekeeping!

Good job, Zweefer.  I am an advocate for passing it on.  The failure rate for new beekeepers is high.
Regarding the agenda, is "Health" referring to honey bee health or beekeeper health?

Honeybee health. Our health in terms of injury prevention (hydration in heat, lifting boxes properly, never climb ladders for swarms by self etc) is covered in first aid.

Everything after 2:00 is more of a primer for the 102 and 103 class we teach.  Each of those topics we discuss in much more detail then.

All in all it was a good day. Some good feedback on the exit surveys, so changes will be made for next year.  Now to prep for the 102.

Awesome!  How many of those 40 do you anticipate will stick it out and last for more than a year or two?

We had a Beginners Class at the end of January.  At the end of February we did a Year 2 and Beyond.

Traditionally there will be 10 or so that will last (25%).

I don't want to go off topic, but... The 15th Member's question about retention got me to thinking.  Does anyone do a follow up to see how many beginners are still beekeeping in 5 years? Also, what do they wish they had known before taking the beekeeping plunge?  That would be interesting.
