this article is an older one, from 2011, but was in this week's "in case you missed it stories" online edition of the star tribune.
i thought of gunsmith, and gun, i know you are out there on the road somewhere, and you might read this.....thank you, take care and safe travels!
That truck driver you flipped off? Let me tell you his story.

A heck of a lot more truth there than most would ever believe. I came off the road when they began requiring the CDL license. After 20 plus years on the open road, sometimes more than a month without seeing my wife or kids, I said enough is enough. I refused to get the CDL.

Been there, done it. The money
can
be good, but when you factor in how many days you're gone, and how many hours you
actually
put in, you probably don't even make minimum wage.

I drove OTR 1997 to 2000. It's a rough life and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. But the way our economy and society is set up, we can't live without them. My wife said after Katrina, "This country is just one truckload away from starvation." I never will forget that.
