Bee noob in Oklahoma!
« on: March 20, 2014, 10:02:11 pm »
Hey all!  My BFF is pulling me on board to come on an unBEElievable adventure with her.  My father in law has kept bees so I am fortunate enough to have access to lots of bee goodies (just no clue what is what).  Going to try and draw in my first hive.  Hope to learn lots here!

Welcome. She brought you to the right place, whether it is beekeeping or just having fun. Pull up a chair and visit for a spell.

Welcome Gunmama. I hope your father-in-law is still around for mentoring. If not, this is the perfect place for sincere electonic media mentors. If you are  ever having a bad day or in a bad mood, this place tends to lift my spirits just listening to all my beekeeping friends talk about this wonderful world of beekeeping with a few other things sprinkled on top.

Welcome sweet talk the father in law and you may be surprised how reasonable getting started in beekeeping can be. Best of luck.

My father-in-law is still around just in another state.  He has a place he is building next door to us so he visits now and then to work on it. That's another reason I am trying to get more bees.  He lost his hive he had on our place and I felt bad because I didn't take the time to learn how to help him take care of them when he wasn't here.  I figured if I got a hive going and learned more he would still have bees to enjoy when he comes down.
