a queen!

i have been checking my hive to keep my make shift feeders full. well when i gave it a check tonight there was a queen in there. not sure what to do with her for there dident seem to be other bees with  her. will she get to cold if she stays alone  in there. temps were 80's today and about 67 for tomorrows high. conserned and excited!

Put her back in the main hive. If she is needed, they will care for her. If she is extra, RIP.

I'm thinking you are mistaking a drone for a queen. Just release it and hope it finds a hive.
Or you could keep it in the house tonight and release it tomorrow when it's warm.

its a long as a wasp but has color on its bum of thin yellow with more black the wings have a shimmer to them and just in front of those is kinda shaped like a zantack pill mostly black but seems to have a thin yellow line that marks the edge of the pill like shape.

Google queen bee. Look at some of the pics. If it is a queen, it may be a yellow jacket queen. They are solitary until they start a nest and raise the first brood of the season. A honeybee queen never goes hunting for food.

   THAT, is an annoying fact.

   It would be unusual for a queen to be alone, and far from a hive or any support staff. ( Think; Hilliary Clinton volunteering to be sent  naked and alone to the jungles of India.)
   
   Having said that.. NOTHING surprises me anymore when it comes to bees.

The last time I saw a queen alone it was after a robbing frenzy. She was the only live bee in the hive!

another one of my what if questions. Had crazy high winds yesterday and lets say this lil lady is a virgin( still goning on the notion shes a qeen) was out on a mating flight. Mixed her self up with the drones and workers that have been visiting and  she stayed. Not sure how likly this is but i dont see it as impossible ither?

looks like a wasp of some sort. Kill it before it starts making a nest in your hive!

When you open feed,  you will attract all types of insects.   Just because they are there for the free food does not mean they will try and set up home.
