« on: March 28, 2014, 11:53:38 am »
My mentor and buddy Howard Wimmer passed away last year and i bought his books at the auction, and wondered how many forum members have copies or read any of them??

Hard Back copies
ABC of Bee Culture -1890
ABC and XYZ of Bee Culture - 1913
ABC and XYZ of Bee Culture - 1980

Paper back covers of:
Beekeeping in the midwest- By Elbert R. Jaycox
Practical Beekeeping By Enoch Tompkins & Roger M. Griffith
Best of Bee Talk By Richard Taylor
The Comb Honey Book By Richard Taylor
Rearing Queen Honey Bees (second edition) By Roger A. Morse
Honey the gourmet medicine By Joe Traynor
Health and the Honey Bee By Charles Mraz
How to Keep Bees and Sell Honey By original work by Walter T. Kelley
500 Answers to bee questions Published by A.I. Root company Medina, Ohio

If you think beekeeping is hard work now? Read the 1890 ABC of Bee Culter if you can find one, They made there equipment without power tools and took there bees from place to place by horse and wagon. :o Jack

That's so cool Brooksbee!

I love old books and what a wonderful memento of your mentor!

I never have time to read anymore (at least not with a brain)  but I"d love to read the 1890 and 1913 book some day!

Enjoy and congrats!

love,
ziffa

what a wonderful selection to add to your collection. River is going to try to talk you out of a couple of them I think.

I have a really old edition of the ABC book.  It's neat to look at what keeps didn't know yet compared to the present.

i would!!! a great collection of books, and even better, that they belonged to your friend jack.  the earliest edition i have of abc is from 1908, and has been a treasure to read.
