Spring? could it really be so?
« on: March 31, 2014, 11:51:43 pm »
At the end of February we had a few warm days and I started to get optimistic.   I even checked the bees and removed some of my entrance reducers because the hives were quite wet and I wanted them to dry out.  Then the Arctic decided to pay us a visit.   New snow, temperatures of 20 below, more new snow etc.    Now things are finally starting to warm up again.  the snow is mostly gone and the bees started flying around today.

I checked all 3 hives and they all have at least 8 frames of bees and some honey left.   ;D   That makes 2 winters with no losses.   My bees are not very mite resistant, but they sure winter really well.  Year 3: here we go!
My advice: worth price charged :)

Hey Pistol- Since we did the oxalic treatment in January, we have not found a single mite. And since I've been in the hive and had to scrape off a bunch of wonky comb the drone brood is clean as well. I love oxalic acid!
