Inner cover and moving the feeding hole over a bit
« on: April 02, 2014, 10:30:59 pm »
Hubby wants to make more inner covers. But he Really doesn't like the hole right in the middle of the cover board. He feels if it drips it's going right onto the brood. Has anyone ever tried feeding bees with the hole over to where the frames are not as much used by the bees?

People have made inner covers with 6 feeder holes. Put them wherever you want them.

Yep!  I have them with 4 holes. One in each corner. Nice to have a gallon of syrup available to them.
Have him save the plug he cuts out if he does more than one hole. Can glue it to a thin piece of board and drop it back in the unused hole. As long as the board isn't thicker than the spacer on the inner cover.   The bees will propolis it in place to keep it handy until you need that hole again.

The inner covers I get at the local feed store have the hole in the corner. I have some in the middle also but prefer the one in the corner.
They don't come notched so I file my notch so the hole is in the rear.
