Spring pollen

Yesterday was a great day warm enough for the bees to be hauling in pollen.
Almost forgot what it looks like after this long winter.
Maples are opening and we found 30 morels poking their heads out of the leaves.
Spring has sprung here in southwest Michigan.

No doubt, nice to see life in the hives.  If you have some mushrooms going on, we must have them here for sure.

The morels are just poking through the leaves. They are hard to spot so I marked them with some long sticks.

I have heard it before I think, but what are some land characteristics to look for when hunting mushroom spots?

I find a lot on banks and hillsides. both north and south facing, not so much east and west.  I have always heard to look for dead elms.. but that hasnt worked well for me. I look along wooded ditches, railroad tracks, creek banks etc for the best luck, but also know of one spot thats perfectly flat that always grows those HUGE morels..  One of them two years ago was ten inches tall.
   Lots of looking and searching... find a spot remember it and go back there next year. I know of half a dozen amazing spots, but the trick is beating the other yahoos to those spots.
