yesterdays swarm and #3 !

went back out 1st thing and caught yesterdays swarm.then hubby was yelling from the driveway- there's a big swarm above the pinetree! this is a 30 something year old 50-60 ft tree and they are at the top! Anyone have a bucket truck?! that's the only way they will be caught. I went back in the mother hive and cut out 3 more queen cells; hopefully the last. although there are still tons of bees in this hive! Boy, when they start it's a mad rush!

Tell me about it Jude! My mother swarmed/mating flight 5 times. It was pretty hectic around here.

I remember Iddee telling me to get a long pole, maybe with a hook on the end, and hook the branch they are on and gently shake and nudge them down to the next branch, and so on and so on, until you can safely reach them. It might take all day but it would be worth it.

the last swarm in the pine tree took off when I went inside to get a sheet ,ect. I couldn't find them anywhere! I hope they found a good home! The earlier swarm was huge! They finally crawled, walked into the hive!
