The Brickyard

The Brickyard is ready for bees...

I moved all the hives that were here, sitting on pallets etc to other yards, and began leveling and setting Cinder blocks that my wife insisted upon..   I still have a few more to set, but were ready for bees to begin arriving.

But you live in skunk country. They have to be 2 deep. Now get busy.

The Turtle gun fix's skunks... and most any other critter that might decide to mess with beehives..  its big enough to handle an elephant if necessary...   makes it nice when dealing with skunks. Nothing remains to pick up!!!

The field behind where the pic was taken from will be in grape vines within the next couple of years. I do enjoy having space.

Seriously! Are you going to be a grape grower and/or a vintner?

One step at a time.
   Get grapes, make them grow.
If they grow well, and we can begin selling them to local wineries.. then we will consider making our own wine. Growing grapes is an art in and of itself.   Learning to prune grape vines horrified me..  They cut SO MUCH of them off!!!   But, grapes only grow on the new/green parts, not the old woody sections... so the pruning makes sense, even if it seems such a waste of growth.
