T-Shirts Cancelled
« on: April 19, 2014, 08:49:49 pm »
OK folks, here is where it all stands in regards to the T-Shirts.
Everything was ready to go. Our website to order shirts was created and placed on line.  It was decided to have a "trial run" of the store, so some of the Admin and Mods "placed orders" and problems appeared right away! The shipping was not what had been originally quoted (several times) and was significant enough of a change that a remedy was sought. The company involved was not interested in making any allowances despite the error on their part, and a joint decision was made to not continue with this company. If they were not prepared to honour the original agreement, we were not prepared to potentially put members coin at risk if other problems developed.

Where does that leave us? Good question.

Despite a tremendous amount of effort having already been put into this (thanks Riverbee) we have decided to take a bit of a break before pressing on again. The "behind the scenes" thread on this subject is over 10 pages long in discussion and decisions, so I hope you can appreciate the amount of time and effort (thanks Riverbee) that has been spent on this to date.

I am sure many of you are disappointed (we are) but it ain't over till it's over.

RIVERBEE'S COMMENTS:
as perry said, in short the company misquoted and erred in quoting shipping prices to me, although confirmed numerous times. the company fully admitted that they did and that this was their error.  we discovered the shipping prices when admins and mods did a trial order process. having discovered the shipping difference and to compensate for their error on this, i asked them to compromise on the pricing of the shirts. the company was unwilling to do so.   this is not a fair business practice and we were not willing to support this company or give them our business.

we will send pms out to those who sent me a head's up just to make sure everyone knows that we have cancelled.

going forward, i think like perry said, at some point this can be revisited.  i want to thank everyone for your patience and suppport on this, only sorry we couldn't make it happen right now.

No worries from here. I'm patient..    I do appreciate the effort and time that has been spent. Hopefully that effort and time will be useful if the process is ever restarted through a different company.  I will be standing by until then!!!

I am pretty confident it will happen, it's just a matter of when. There was definitely enough interest.

Even though it didn't work out, I appreciate the effort. I would have done the same thing, if the deal falls through, I walk.
Let us know when you're ready to try again. I've memorized my wife's debit card number and am ready to order.

Appreciate your work on this, no good deed goes unpunished.  It sounds like you are back to square one again, you were right to break negotiations with unscrupulous vendors.  Don't look back.  In your new attempt, please consider some members might like the option to have a shirt with a collar -its the sun protection and all that.  Good shirts don't cost much here.

Thanks for the update I was concerned that I had committed and then missed the launch date.  When I seen this thread I thought it was going to be because a bunch of you slackers said you would and didn’t (like Minz)

there you go just get some iron on decals. I could put one on the rear of my XXXXL yoga pants (I would have to put it where the thong would not hide it of course)

OMG! I really needed this laugh!

Frankly! After 50, it would be real easy to completely loose the thong in there somewhere... That's why I prefer the commando thing!

One of us needs to invest in a screen press.  Or, have a local shop willing to provide the desired size and press the image when an order comes in.  It usually costs a little up front for them to keep a screen pattern on hand.  I looked into new screen presses and quality presses with only 4 colors are in the range of $2500.

I don't think it is the actual cost of the shirts that is the problem so much as the shipping costs were not what we had intially been led to believe.

I don't deal with vendors who sell a low priced item only to turn around and make their money back on inflated shipping.  As for shipping in the states we could ship a T in a soft envelope for $5.35 all day long priority.  International shipping is a huge pocket book drainer.  $25 range for shizzle.
