Huge swarm. Looks llike a bear hanging upside down
« on: April 27, 2014, 11:28:35 am »
Does it get any better?

Looking for the Queen

That's a deep hive body. They are now in 2 deeps. Glad I took a deep and not a nuc.

Awesome looking swarm!  Looks like a tree sloth to me.  With the right food supply, I wonder how long it will thatke them to draw out the frames?  :jealousofthatswarm:

Wowee !! Good for you. The keep who lost that one will be sick.

How did you get it down ?  I have a mental picture of a sheet on the ground and a collector doing a Tarzan act shaking the branch.

I need to remember to put a sheet in the truck. The homeowner had a 6ft ladder.

I did do to Tarzan shake though.

Not yet.

I gave them a deep frame of capped honey, A frame of brood and a quart of 1-1 syrup on inner cover.

Will let them settle in. Only about 100 bees left flying when I left with hive. I know shes in there.

That many bees fanning I could almost feel the breeze through my Ultra Breeze Jacket....

Holy Schmoly! That doesn't look like a very big branch, so glad it didn't break. It would be hard finding the queen in that crowd! Love the pics!

Looks like Central Arkansas is in for a good year.  If the hive the swarm came from could produce such a massive swarm, something must be going right. :)

Fantastic! Some of us look up at the clouds to see different things, but I like what you do better!  :D :photos:

Great Catch!!

Would have loved to been standing in the middle of that cloud of bees before they clustered on that branch. That is just AWESOME!
