Church cutout
« on: May 07, 2014, 09:09:45 pm »
Looks like I have a cut out to do at a local church. The bees are coming thru a little hole next to a window. Tha building originally was concrete block, then they bricked the outside. For appearance sake, I suppose. The IR camera picked them up pretty good and luckily, it looks like I can go thru the soffit to get to them. I'm looking forward to this one.

In the last picture, you can see some individual bees at the entrance and the cluster is directly above them.

Wow, that is very cool! I would assume this takes a great deal of guess work out of the equation?

Well, it lets you know where to start, anyway. The heat signature is only showing where the bees are actually against the structure. I don't know how big the nest is because I can't see past the point of contact. There'll be another beekeeper there who's a member of the church to help me. She's an elderly lady and she volunteered to rubber band the comb into frames as I hand them down to her. I'm a little nervous about that, because its going to be very hot and she said she'd be suited up. I think I'll take someone else, just in case it gets too hot for her. I wouldn't want her to feel obligated to stick around and help and get sick from the heat.

It is always good to have a backup plan.  I went to do a cutout last weekend only to find that the bees were not nearly as "easy to reach" as the owner thought, so I'll be taking the trailer with ALL my gear for the next attempt.
Time to advertise a "special" for removals Good through the end of June!   I'll get the bees I need one way or another!
