Marked Queens

I released 4 marked queens Monday morning into nucs.

Checked them today and saw a queen in one of them that was not marked. Is it common for them to clean the marks off?

I can't say for sure, but grooming may have removed the mark.?

I guess, or maybe I moved the queen when I made the nucs.

Now if could only remember what hives I pulled the frames from to make the nucs. I could check for queen cells  I normally don't pull frames
from hives until I locate the queen and set her aside though.

To many swarms and splits going on for me to remember at the moment. :'(

Just spoke with a guy that bought a couple of these queens fro me. He said one came out with barely and paint on her. That the attendents in the cage with her had removed almost all of it.

They are Hygienic queens.

Depends on your definition of "common".

A lot depends on the substance used to mark them and how well it has dried before releasing her back to the colony.   I run a lot of marked queens and it is rare that markings are completely removed.
