It is ON!
« on: May 14, 2014, 09:47:09 am »
Three large packages hived this past Saturday.  two days later and all queens are released and seem to be egg laying monsters (OK I saw some eggs.  But I'm sure that they all are the best queens ever!)!
Of course it helped that each of these packages started with 10 frames of drawn comb, and about 10lbs each of honey stores.

Two of three hives that made it through the winter are busy  filling up frames with brood and moving to the bottom deeps without me reversing. supers went on those two hives this weekend.
One split so far and it should be ready this weekend for its second deep.

Dandelions going gangbusters!  Everything in bloom.

and I haven't managed to screw up much of anything yet this year. :-\

Bring on the black locust flow.  I might just get to harvest in springtime this year!   :D

I'm starting to think that the bees are keeping me...

After the nightmare that was this winter I'm happy to have good dreams for a change.
All of those full frames of comb and supplies were from this winter's dead outs.  Good for the packages and splits, not so good for the former residents.

Hey Pops,
Take a lot of pictures,  looking back at them next winter will help keep you warm--or a least warm your heart.

I actually bought a cheap camera to do the job of taking pictures.  I didn't want to use my touch screen cell phone (gloves, propolis, honey, wax).  Unfortunately, the camera was a bit too cheap.  I'll have to find another one.

What a great feeling having the bee yards buzzing with life .
It was a hard winter I lost 40%  but I have bee's and have made 2 early nucs so far.
Hope you have great year I know things are looking good for the flow in these parts and I will be pulling queens soon just can't wait.
Good luck.
Say hello to the bad guy.
