Got a call that the swarm that was high was still there today. So I loaded up and took a lite bow and was going to shake them out. I got there about 4:45 and the wife said they were there at 4:30 I showed them to the owner of the house. I seen a few scout bees going east and coming back. I told her they apparently went that way and pointed toward the east. She said there they are...and low and behold they were only about 7 feet off the ground. Knocked on the door and let the folks know who I was and asked if I could catch that swarm of honey bees in their front yard. They gave me permission so I started setting up my Little Giant Ladder so I could get the box under them. Got most in the first shake. And with a little bee begone got the rest air borne and the took to the box very easily. Got only a couple quick pictures that I will post in a bit.
Good news is I got the swarm, did not find the queen but I am sure she is there by the way the bees went into the hive. Bad news is this swarm was only about half the size of the one I could not reach on friday. Not sure where the rest went. The original lady and the landlord said the swarm at 4:30 was about the size of a basket ball the one I got was about the size of a volley ball. At any point the landlord owns several house and said I will get the first right of refusal if any honey bees show up at any of his properties. Bee back in a bit with the pictures and the home occupant said she took several pictures she will forward to me of the original and the other one. Tom
