Ha! That's the way it was with my first swarm this spring. It was way to early in the year and I was not prepared, so I looked like the proverbial headless chicken  :D

I was pulling in the driveway as they were all flying around! When things started to settle I found where they were landing. It was awesome to watch I'm glad I got home in time to see it!

Exellent!!!  Experiencing the actual flight of a swarm is, well,...an experience!!!!!!  I'm glad you got to witness it.  Even though we don't like our bees flying away, there's something special about seeing thousands of them filling the air.  My hives are in an open pasture/hayfield and I've been able to see them issue from the hive and more or less walk with them to the edge of the woods where they begin to cluster.  Amazing, these bugs are. ;)

It all started with my first swarm that I was telling you about, I had a lazy day at home and was still in my jams when the swarm started. The last thing on my mind was what I was wearing... until I got the swarm caught and back into my yard.

I was on a ladder about 8 feet up a cedar tree, with a 10 foot drop below me. It took three climbs to get the bees down. In the meantime, I'm running back and forth to the forum getting advice on how to catch my first swarm. It was crazy and Fun!

Im friends with all of my neighbors though and with my luck they'd stop to see whats going on. Thats how days like that usually go  :D And I totally understand I only had one thing on my mind too..
