Yes it is Jen  :D Both swarms were up in the pine trees! The other one was slightly lower but still high. I cut that branch and lowered it down with a wire. This one pictured here we strung an old frame of comb next to it and then lowered it.

I would be up that ladder in a heart beat, fell out of a lot of trees when I was a kid, that's why I'm so snarky now  :D

I did tell her my jammies story and my success with 10 swarms. If she got the swarm, pretty darm sure she was wearing jammies  :D

No I wasn't in my "jammies" LOL  :D
It was high! I was determined though! I'd do just about anything to catch some bees  :-[
Jen I didn't get stung on this adventure BUT I did receive 7 stings on sunday when one of my hives got destroyed by a black bear  :'( UGH still makes me sad to think about... Rob offered to have my other hives moved to his yard for safe keeping and when I was loading them up, I got stung a bunch. Needless to say I woke up yesterday morning violently sick and was told I was going through what we believed to be the "healing crisis" I am finally feeling better tonight, thank goodness. I almost thought I had food poisoning the symptoms were so terrible

Feels like you have the flu..   Sweating and shivering in rotation, nausious??   Welcome to my world!!!   Heheh.. still better than wearing all that stuff..
I JUST had to change an entrance reducer this afternoon...  pop it out, put the new one in...  No need for gear and smoke...   Popped the old one out, slid the new one in...   A single bee came out of the hive Donkey first... I watched her come boiling out. There was NO mistaking her intentions.. BAM right beside my nose under my eye....   Got a single sting doing the cut out from the house today.. No gear, and my fault, I squished her with my finger and got stung right on the fingertip...

LazyBkpr... Worse then that but I won't go into detail..... Lets just say extremely unpleasant  :'( It was awful. But thankfully Im better now!!!
ouch that sounds painful... I'd hate to get stung in the face like that. I can just imagine what Id look like...... :D
After yesterday/ todays experience I will be covering up. Im hoping to get some help with stinging myself down my spine in an effort to build some immunity and lessen my suffering. They say things should be better after the "healing crisis" and I sure pray they do. Hope you feel better.

very sorry to hear about the black bear lindsay.......very wise decision to let rob take the hives, because if he didn't the bear would get the others. they just keep coming back.  this is very heartbreaking.

if i might ask, you described taking 7 stings and becoming rather ill.......(sorry to hear about the stings and very unpleasant reaction). what is the 'healing crisis'?

" Needless to say I woke up yesterday morning violently sick and was told I was going through what we believed to be the "healing crisis" I am finally feeling better tonight, thank goodness. thank you in advance!

ps lindsay, do you think you suffered a 'toxic reaction' to the multiple stings?  just google 'toxic reaction honey bee sting'......?

riverbee- I believe that receiving multiple stings sent my body into the "healing crisis" and what was explained to me as a "immune wake up" Read this link on healing crisis        http://www.naturalnews.com/036968_healing_crisis_detoxification_liver_health.html
I hope this helps  ;D
