When I opened my hives this afternoon, I got a good surprise! The "bearding hive had filled their 1st super 3/4 with honey in a little over a week! I put another super on them right away!

It never ceases to amaze me how fast a super can be filled when you have an intense flow and an abundant population in the hive.

Me too Apis.  And then, on the opposite side, take forever when a flow is not as strong and the population is lower from say, a recent swarm of the hive.

I have a couple of hives that were filling supers every 3 days for about 10 days. I'm out of drawn comb and that slowed them down.

That is why we have extractors an supers per colony is to provide the space for the bees to forage and ripen the honey with supers to exchange who'll we pull off full to extract.
