Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly
« on: June 28, 2014, 11:44:25 pm »
meant to post a couple pix of this butterfly last month and forgot.  this is an eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly; Papilio glaucus, and this is a female.  some years they are prolific and some years we don't see them or not so many of them.   they are very fast, strong flyers and very adept, sometimes hard to get a clear pic of with a small digital camera.  isn't she beautiful?!

more about them here:

Look at the colors in her tail? I've only seen maybe 4 of our swallowtails this year.
