That hive looks in remarkable good shape the frames look like they have had bees on them most the time no real signs of wax moth or mice damage. Is it a bit of mold on the bottom of the one frame?
Think about it, with the hives buried so deep in the honey suckle and queen needing to return from mating flights. Swarms finding their way in to discover the empty hives to recolonate. And all the bees coming and going on cleansing, orientation and foraging trips. and we worry about a few blades of grass and weeds in the bees flight path to the hive entrance. Makes me wonder are we doing them any favors buy being over attentive?
