An update on how things are.
« on: July 07, 2014, 11:57:45 am »
So far things in my hive seem to be going well lots of brood.  Went two inspections with out seeing my queen but yesterday she was present and accounted for. They really seem to be liking the bottom deep. Drawing frames good to just not moving up. So i did some frame manipulation with two frames on the first try. Workers went up with it but queen seems to like that bottom box best. They had some drawn comb with a little pollen. I decided i would move those to the food chamber yesterday to allow more be space and encourage them to draw on the foundation i have. All of the other frames that have gobs of brood are receiving gobs of pollen. Very cool to see mostly orange frames. Hoping im doing all right but am sure yal will let me know what i need to tweek. Kids got excited because i was able to bring a bit of comb in for them from cleaning frames.  I have not found a more fascinating advent in a long while. Thanks to all for there encouraging words and advise.

One hint. If a frame is mostly pollen, move it toward the outside and an empty frame in. The queen thinks the pollen frame is the outside of her brood nest and will not go past it to lay.

Thanks for the kudos. I just try to help a bit when the opportunity comes.

Nice pics mama  :)  My queens are not moving up either. I hope that my hives don't go into winter with too little brood and winter bees. I haven't seen pollen come in for a long time
