Have not read the links yet, but I will go back and do that.. For now, when i need drawn frames, I pull them from the sides, provided they are not filled with honey, and drop a couple of foundation-less frames into the middle of the brood nest.. They are normally filled out ASAP. If I need to get more than a couple of frames drawn out when there is not a heavy flow, the three holes in the jar lid trick works exceptionally well.
The frames toward the center of the of the box are primary frames that the bees WANT drawn.. TO get them well drawn, I rotate the frames one space each week. Pull the side frame to make room to do an inspection.. Pull the next frame, put it against the wall, then progressively move each frame over, and replace the removed frame against the opposite wall. In this way through the course of spring and summer ALL frames are primaried at some point.
We have had a pretty wet spring and start to summer, the river is currently out of its banks. There are blooms galore.. The flow has not yet let up, so I am getting frames drawn like mad without feeding.
