well here's a good evening post......

went outside to check on something and LOCKED myself out of the house, no jacket, no gloves, no flashlight......in 10 degree freezing cold, stumbling around in the SNOW and the DARK looking for the extra key, and on my hands and knees......

now i am signing off to get warmed up....... :D

Ahhhh Riv.... I don't miss the snow, grew up in winters of 6 ft of snow, shoveled my share of driveways and roofs. We have lived here for almost 30 years and have had some big snow a handful of times, that's enough for me these days  :)

good evening everyone~

it is frigid, frigid, frigid here. yesterday was worse, today not so frigid, and it's only november here. we don't get these kinds of temps until late december and january.  it simply amazes me, year after year, how the bees manage to survive, at the minimum, 4 months of temps that are barely above 0, and  much below 0.
honey bees are incredible insects. i stuck my ear to the hive today, barely a low hum, but i know they are doing alright. especially after my escapade last weekend with lifting the outer cover off to shove insulation underneath and the inner cover came off with it......  :-[

anyone get the sniffles or the first cold of the season?  i managed to.

have been going to the ymca everyday now since the weather turned.  i met a lady who moved up here about 3 years ago from north carolina. husband was transferred here for work.  she spyed my waterproof, insulated leather goretex boots and said..."hey, nice boots!"  well, these boots aren't exactly pretty.  we struck up a conversation about the 'weather shock' moving up here........LOL!  layering, what is that?  winter jacket, what is that?  snow boots, what is that?  snowblower, snow shovels, ice chippers, roof rakes, some jury rigged contraption to brush snow off a dish satellite......what is that?!........ :D
us seasoned northerners have an arsenal of winter tools.......right perry?!........well perry has his wife.......... :D
i asked her how she liked our fine weather about now, and if she and her family had adjusted.  in a very colorful descriptive southern accent she described her sentiments about midwest weather.........
............LOL!!!.......... :D

gun deer season starts saturday, and goes for one week, it just gets crazy.  my hunter and his brother will be here.  i think we have finally chased off the rogue hunters shooting off the road, but with the weather forecast, those two boys will be freezing their behinds off, and coming to the house quite frequently to warm up and drink beer, which will make them have to pee, so not sure how much hunting they will get done.......... :D

speaking of the ymca......gotta love cheech marin:  (dave blueblood.....do you do this when you have to direct traffic?!.......... :D)

Welp... she did it...  we now officially have SNOW.. forecast said less than an inch expected.. it is still snowing and we HAVE three inches..
   But, I will say it is looking more like a normal traditional winter at this point.. supposed to be near 50 on Saturday and above freezing for about ten days during the daytime...    Hoping this winter plays by the rules!

wish everyone well, and hope all are enjoying the day! 
10 below here......this morning we shoveled more snow off the deck and driveway; needed to get to the charcoal grill to put the turkey on............ :D
i think weber charcoal grills ought to come with a GLASS top rather than a metal top so's i can see what's going on with my bird........ :D
i don't open it but every hour, i don't trust the temp gauge on the weber(runs higher)......have a separate remote temp guage, but forgot to purchase the cold hardy batteries for it......things we do in the north.......... :D

It's 3 in the afternoon here in sunny Cali and we're just getting started. Neighborhood is filling up with cars and and yummy foods wrapped in towels are going into houses... making me smile  :)
