good evening everyone ~
it's 35F here, no snow on the ground.......been raining/sleeting/ trying to snow the last few days.....been pretty cloudy and overcast for a couple of weeks, so haven't seen much sun, doesn't bother me, some it does. we didn't get the freezing rain as predicted, maybe a little but temps to warm to make the driveway an ice rink for me to fall on my keister and break something...... :)

btw ......i wish you all a great evening and enjoy!

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

Yes, your roof or someone elses it might be a good idea to stay off of it while enjoying beverages.     ;D

good evening everyone~
temps are just crazy here and just down right frigid.  i just walked outside again, and now it's snowing.  been in and out all day. my prince (mr. rb) who never gets sick has the nasty flu virus going around his office. i have never seen him this sick.  i quarantined him 3 days ago.......... :D  i do not want to get this junk.  two mornings ago the phone rings, it's his cell number? i am thinking what the heck? someone steal his phone?  because i quarantined him he took his cell phone in the spare bedroom and called me on the house phone ............. :D :D :D

so today i am out running for a prescription for the 'tamiflu' for him and gather some work files..... but i had to shovel snow away from the garage door and the front door a little and i needed to fill my gas tank on my jeep.  freezing temps well below zero with frigid windchill temps at 30F-.
just some tips..........DO NOT LEAVE HOME without lock deicer..........and DO NOT leave your gloves off at 15 below with windchill factors at -30F for longer than 5 minutes or you will not feel your finger tips for sometime thereafter........ :D

i have a locking gas cap on my jeep, had to replace the original cuz it was stolen by juvenile delinquents. (no hood ornament to steal).  the lock was frozen solid with ice surrounding the lock. i am standing at the pump. tried a lighter. well that didn't work so well. went into the station and purchased a small bottle of rubbing alcohol for 3 bucks and grabbed a coffee stir stick straw, and a regular straw.  trick is DO NOT swallow the rubbing alcohol when you are trying to suck it out of the small bottle with a small straw....... :D
managed to shove the smaller straw in the lock to get enough alcohol in it to free the lock up a little, grabbed a small bottle of hand sanitizer, smeared it on the key, and between the alcohol and the hand sanitizer i managed to get the gas cap off and fill my gas tank.............. :D

so when i finally get home, he says, "what took you so long?"..........

LOL thats exactly what I thought.. my eyebrows went WAY up.. Glad your still with us Mrs. River!!!

LAST night at this time, I was chiseling frozen dirt with a big ice scraper for driveways and sidewalks..   I started about 5 PM, and chiseled until about 9 PM before I finally had enough FROZEN dirt removed to get down to NON frozen dirt..
WHY on earth would anyone chisel dirt when it is 5 degrees and the wind is blowing 20 mph? (Which meant it was -15 degrees)
My wife woke me up.. laying in bed with Bronchitis, and said there was something wrong with the toilets, both were not flushing.....    I filled the sink with water... yep, it was backed up as well....   So either the pipes are frozen, or the screen on the outlet to the septic tank was plugged....
Since NOTHING froze last winter at more than 50 below, i  had great doubts anything would be frozen at 5 degrees... so i got dressed, grabbed shovel and chisel, and went to do my husbandly duty..
ONCE I was through the frozen ground it only took about 30 minutes to dig the plastic tank cover up, take the screws out, reach down and grab the filter, pull it out, go out to the barn and rinse it off, put it back in, screw cover back down, push the dirt back into the hole, and go into the house to tell wife that she could shower and use the potty again...
She didnt even look up from her computer, she just said... OK........
Fortunately, I had left the chisel where it lay...    After two hours of coughing, from coming back into the warmth of the house.. I managed to get back to sleep...
I woke up this morning, and found the coffee was ready for me to turn it on, and a note that says.. Thanks!

     :o    >:(

Better last night than tonight I guess. Its snowing and blowing like mad right now.

Riv- "so when i finally get home, he says, "what took you so long?"..........

     Honest To God! The Nerve!

Scott- Seriously? With bronchitis? I don't care how much that would have cost I would have called in a plummer! Unless of course your wife is in pay back mode for labor pains...

If it is true bronchitis diagnosed from a doctor...lemme tell ya something about that pooh pooh.. I had it last year for two months. The infectious bronc that scoured our county last year took down 11 people, and that's just the ones who showed up at the doctors offices and the ER. 4 of them were men in their prime and strong and healthy. The main reason? dehydration. Don't Be Digging Up Anymore Frozen Terra Firma!

Yes, doctor prescribed meds for it, the regimen of pills that you start taking a bunch and work your way down..   Payback came yesterday afternoon..   I had to go fill the wood stove, no big deal, until I came back in the house.. couldnt quit coughing, and was out of the codine cough syrup, so she calls the doc to see if she can get more.. he asked what I had been doing, I shouldnt still be coughing...
For some reason she got real nice to me, but I think it was just to tell me goodbye?
