Yes Jen, believe it or not they did calm down quite a bit, have quite a bit of flowers blooming here, but with threat of rain not much help to the bees so I am going to have keep an eye on them.

Still have between 3 and 4 feet of snow. Tomorrow supposed to go up to 6 C (43 F), but guess what they're calling for on the weekend? :'( Another 6 to 10 inches!
Still have yards where you cannot see the hives.

Was in the mid 60's today!   I was able to brew some beer outside in a sweatshirt.  man did that sun feel good!

Most of the snow is gone here, should stay above freezing the rest of the week.  It's about time!

We had some snow try to start things today, but died out as quick as it came in...   The trees are budding, and I saw my first robin in the woods.  I am thinking spring is finally here!

Hey perry, over the years i've had fun picking on you, but now i'm feeling sorry for you with all that white crap. Hang in there buddy, you will feel like you've been reborn when its all gone and things turn green and the flowers start blooming. Jack

good evenin beeks,
time to fire this thread back up........weather has been crazy, from 30's to 80 something yesterday, 60's maybe tomorrow, then back down into 40's for daytime temps for the next few days. high winds also, chasing a lot of stuff around the house and deck/porch that isn't exactly nailed down. at least my grill didn't take a traveling trip off the deck......... :D
a storm came in last night, i knew it, the hot humid air temp just tells ya besides the weather peeps that you are going to get nailed with a nasty storm............... :D  we did, and received some much needed rain.  didn't care for the power going off and on a half dozen times or my printer restarting, it makes a little noise ........... :D
was more concerned about any power surges that might effect the freezer full of meat.  just had the electronics replaced from the last power surge.

we are in a drought already, unusual, we didn't get the snow we normally get, hopefully april will bring some very much needed rain.

Still have about 3 feet of snow, and it's about as hard as rock. Temps are usually near or above freezing. The snow is so hard I can easily walk on it without going through.

Temp went to 68 yesterday. :) I still have some snow left. My springs birds are back claiming their nest boxes. :) I'm busy now cleaning out the house sparrows. Still feeding hard sugar to the bees. More snow for the weekend. Its going to be tough this year getting the strawberry plants in by the end of April. What I need here is some dry weather and warm days. What you people need out west is rain. We don’t need it here.

Ray, what we really need is 10 winters of snow! That will fill the lakes, rivers, and creeks up and bring up the water table.

Got to 78 yesterday and going to 82 today, my bees have been real busy, one hive had the super filled so I throw another one on, the one that was so mean earlier are now tamed down, the other hive has 6 frames filled in it and will add a super to it Monday, so come June I should have 4 supers to extract. Got to get some bottles order to put the honey in, already got half or more sole.

about 30 d F here i guess, cold.  been raining, sleeting and snowing here today into this evening. cold temps the past week. heat turned back up a little tonight, chill in the house.  snow falling later this afternoon to early evening with big heavy flakes.......it was kinda purty...........okay........NOT!!!....... :D

haven't been able to check the bees really, too cold here still during the day, did a couple weeks ago when it warmed a little. i threw in another half of a winter patty then (still had half left of another and hefting seemed like they still had some good weight to them), and also happy i didn't take off the winter wrap.....winds, no sun, etc.........

watching this hive like a hawk, sure don't want to lose her now........

Most of this past winter has been blessed with good rains that were well spaced.  March was relatively a dry month---here we got only 5 mm (1/5 th inch)of rain.
The first day of Passover (this year, it came on Saturday, April 4th) is considered to be the end of the rainy season    BUT there can always be surprises.
Today, we received an unusual gift of 20 mm rain, with more predicted overnight and tomorrow.
This should give a boost to the nectar produced by our summer flowers.  Heres hoping and praying.

Temps finally headed up with night time lows around the freezing mark.
I have pollen patties ready to go on, probably start Monday. I also had around 5 gallons of honey that was not for human consumption, so I started mixing it up with pollen sub to make extra patties and will try to keep them from starving with that and the fondant.
Note : only do this with honey you know about, ie; your own!!

Temps in the 60's today.  I installed a package of bees at a local nature preserve our beekeeper association will have out there for teaching. They took to their new home just great

Supposed to be 56 today but 30 tonight.. 61 tomorrow and 32 tomorrow night.. THEN it looks like its going to work its way back up to the 70's during the day and 40's and 50's at night..  My tomaters, peppers onions etc will likely have to all be re started..  one in five years we dont get a freezing spell.  THis year we did, so will have to re start everything.. hope the strawberries make it. Like me they usually start too early...
