a quarter to 5 and I have given up for the day.. Rained all morning, we got another 3/4 inch according to my rain gauge. Looks like the fall flow is going to shape up very nicely. Goldenrod IS starting to bloom. I see yellow! Still have partridge pea, Culver’s Root, Milkvetch, Prarie sage just starting, Zizia, Oxeye sunflower, LOTS of coneflowers, prairie flox, Dames Rocket, Spiderwort that is starting to fade, Hoary Vervain, Bergamot (Beebalm), Ironweed, Prairie blazing star, and Asters. Just what I have seen along the roadsides and fields coming and going from the hives. Most years these flowers struggle, this year they are in colorful profusion due to the rain we have received in exactly perfect amounts.
I packed up all the used frames I have and spent the morning cleaning them and putting new wax in them. Spent the afternoon cutting brush in the front ditch and piling it in prep to burn the piles. HUMID out, but thats OK, I was sweaty and dirty when the wife pulled up so she is quite content.. It's only a bad day If I am taking a break when she arrives.
